Our Mission: Develop the next generation of Bay Area youth through basketball fundamentals, character education, and mentorship. We build players who are confident on the court and principled everywhere else.
Our Story
Sharp Shooter Basketball was founded in 1999 with a simple belief: every young person deserves access to quality coaching and mentorship, regardless of socioeconomic background.
What started as one coach teaching kids in a local gym has grown into a comprehensive program serving 500+ players annually across the Bay Area. We've remained true to our founding values even as we've scaled:

- Rigorous coaching standards and safety protocols
Our success isn't measured in tournament wins or scholarship offers (though we're proud of both). It's measured in the confidence of a shy kid who learns to speak up in class. In the teenager who makes the school team after struggling with self-doubt. In the 8th grader who becomes a natural leader and role model for younger players.
Our Timeline
1999
Sharp Shooter Basketball founded by a group of passionate coaches. First season serves 50 youth in Oakland.
2005
Expansion to Berkeley and San Ramon. We hit 200+ players annually and establish formal coaching curriculum based on Wooden's Pyramid of Success.
2010
We become a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Scholarship program launches, committing $25K/year to need-based assistance.
2015
Expansion to 7 Bay Area locations. We launch video library and one-on-one coaching options. Over 400 players served annually.
2020
Pivot to online coaching and virtual classes during pandemic. Community stays connected. Scholarship support increases to $45K/year as economic hardship grows.
2023
Launch Pyramid Path badge system connecting character development (Wooden's Pyramid) with skills tracking. Full digital platform debuts.
2026
New membership tiers and full-stack platform launch. Expansion to employer matching and donor-advised fund giving. Reaching toward 600+ youth annually.
